I am a University of the South Pacific student, majoring in Accounting and
Financial Management, and currently am doing AF301, that is Accounting Theory.
I am doing a seminar research project.
For my project I am looking at
"Harmonization of accounting standards: Does one size fit all?"
In this project, I intend to look at various organizations that are operating at
an international level as well as other key organizations.
My project is as follows:
Harmonization of accounting standards: Does one size fit all?
In this project, the following issues should be addressed:
a. What factors and groups have influenced harmonization?
b. How do specific accounting theories help us to understand issues
relating to
harmonization of accounting standards?
c. What evidence (from previous studies as well as your own research)
suggests
that harmonization is beneficial for individuals and groups in Pacific Island
Countries (PICs)?
d. What evidence (from previous studies as well as your own research)
suggests
that harmonization is not appropriate for PICs?
e. How can PICs derive the most benefit from harmonization?
To answer the above mentioned, I intend to do this with the help of interviews
and use of questionnaires.
